Though Homeopathy was discovered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1790 in Germany, today Homeopathy has its strongest base in India. India has the largest number of Homeopathic Medical Colleges, the largest number of Homeopathic Doctors, and probably the largest number of users (~10% of its population) of Homeopathy in any country in the world! There are a total of six government recognized systems of Medicine here. Homeopathy along with Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, and Siddha are collectively termed AYUSH which along with Allopathy constitutes the six systems of Medicine mentioned previously. The seriousness which the Indian government gives to this system can be gauged from the fact that there is a separate Ministry of AYUSH currently. But unfortunately, there are not a large number of government jobs for the AYUSH Doctors! Even though the government has had noble intentions of creating and providing the government jobs, unfortunately they have not materialized yet…
